US import vs EU build: the math nobody shows you
A US-configured server looks cheaper on the sticker until it crosses the Atlantic. Then you add import duty, import VAT paid upfront at the border, freight and insurance for a 40-60kg machine, and - the part that actually hurts - every warranty case ships back the same way. A dead GPU in year two means customs paperwork in both directions and weeks of downtime.
An EU-built server has none of that: intra-EU delivery with no customs, reverse-charge VAT for businesses, EU consumer and warranty law, and RMA by courier. If the builder is in a lower-cost member state - like Bulgaria, where we build - the assembly and engineering labor also costs less than in Germany or Austria, without the hardware being any different: the GPUs, EPYC CPUs and NVMe come from the same official EU distributors.

Weeks, not months - but the honest breakdown matters: component sourcing is the variable (specific GPUs in volume depend on EU distributor stock; we confirm before you commit), assembly takes days, and 72 hours minimum of burn-in under full GPU load is non-negotiable before shipping. Then standard EU freight: 2-5 days to anywhere in the DACH region.
Warranty: what to actually demand
Ask any builder these four questions before paying:
- How long, and extendable? (Ours: 3 years base, extendable to 5.)
- Where does RMA physically happen? Inside the EU, or does hardware cross a customs border?
- Was the machine burn-in tested, and can you see the logs? Thermal and power data from a 72-hour full-load run should exist.
- Who answers post-delivery? The engineer who built it, or a ticket queue?
